Bullshit! Returns for Fifth Season

Posted Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Showtime's resident iconoclasts, Penn & Teller, are once again ready to open fire on a range of taboo topics that society holds dear on the fifth season of the award-winning series PENN & TELLER: BULLSHIT! The first of ten half-hour episodes will premiere on Thursday, March 22nd at 10 PM ET/PT.

Starring master showmen Penn & Teller, the series delivers an aggressive, humorous expos of controversial topics using the duos trademark humor, knowledge of carnival tricks as well as hidden cameras and blatant confrontation. Season fives premiere episode, The Obesity Myth, tackles Americas obesity epidemic and examines who really is orchestrating the war against weight. Episode two is an in-depth look into the second largest corporation in the world, Wal-Mart. Penn & Teller shine the spotlight on this mega-retailer, dissecting its history of savvy business strategy while uncovering the reasons why detractors are so against them. Other show topics will target Satanic conspiracy theories, The Americans With Disabilities Act and the energy crisis.

PENN & TELLER: BULLSHIT! has been nominated for a Writers Guild Award for Best Comedy/Variety series for four consecutive years and won in 2004. It was also nominated in 2004, 2005 and 2006 for the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program and Outstanding Writing for Non Fiction Programming. The series is produced by the Academy and Emmy Award-winning Wolper Organization and Star Price Productions. Wolper Organizations credits include The Mists of Avalon, L.A. Confidential, Murder in the First, Thornbirds, Surviving Picasso, Queen and Legends, Icons and Superstars of the 20th Century. Penn & Teller serve as Co-Executive Producers. The Executive Producers are Mark Wolper and Star Price. Peter Adam Golden also serves as Executive Producer, whose credits include the critically-acclaimed feature film The Aristocrats.

Penn & Tellers unique mix of comedy, magic and the macabre has brought them critical acclaim, sold-out runs on Broadway and their own permanent performance home at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Together since 1975, their award-winning theater show has been a long-running hit on and off-Broadway. The 1985 PBS special, Penn & Teller Go Public, won two Emmys and the International Golden Rose. Other television projects have included the Emmy-nominated variety series Penn & Tellers Sin City Spectacular and the special Penn & Teller's Home Invasion. The award-winning pair has also authored two best-selling books and more recently, Penn has taken to the airwaves. The Penn Jillette Show debuted in early 2006, airing every afternoon on CBS-owned radio stations across the country.
