49 Sports Challenge: Dave is a pedal pusher

18-year-old Topeka native Bridget Walter has been a BMX racer for nine years and in that short time, she has already accomplished more then most would in a career.
"Probably winning the grand nationals last year, or two years ago, I'd say, definitely because I didn't even expect it and it was just awesome," Bridget said.
She's been the Kansas state champ ever since she's been riding. She has two regional titles and with that national title, she got second in the competition last year.
It's taken her a lot of work to get so good.
"At first, I just kind of rode for the fun of it," Bridget said. "But then I decided that I was actually kind of good at it, so I trained at the gym and I do sprints and I just come out here and ride."
Bridget got into the sport because of her twin brother Devin, who is also a big time BMXer.
"Well, like a lot of my friends that don't race and stuff, uhm, they will come out here and they will ride and she will just whoop them all the way around the track and so it's kind of funny because they think that they can beat her because she's a girl," Devin said.
Last time I checked, I haven't ridden a bicycle in about seven years, so according to Devin, it sounds like I don't stand a chance.
"Well she's gonna probably be going 23 to 24 miles an hour and you're going to probably be doing 7 to ten," Devin predicted.
With that said, I got my bike and safety gear and found out what my sports challenge is for the week.
"Dave, I challenge you to one lap around the BMX track," Bridget said.
Do I stand any chance against you?
"Uhm. I'm going to go with no but I guess we'll just have to wait and see," Bridget said.
Alright Bridget, I'm a little winded so I think I know what that means. How did I do?
"You did alright," Bridget laughed.
Only alright?
"Pretty bad..."
That's what I thought.
So that means I am one and four in sports challenge this season..
