Dates, times set for Las Vegas Invitational

Kansas State will play Kentucky in the third round of the 2008 Findlay Toyota Las Vegas Invitational on Friday, Nov. 28 at the Orleans Arena, as organizers announced the final round match-ups of the tournament on Friday.

The battle of Wildcats will be the final game of the first day of the tournament at the Orleans Arena and is set for 11 p.m. CT on ESPNU. The winner of the contest will play Iowa or West Virginia in the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9:30 p.m. CST on ESPN2. The losers will play on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Kansas State will begin accepting tickets orders immediately for the event. All tickets for the rounds in Las Vegas are sold in reserved all-session packages, good for eight games over two days. Seating will be assigned according to the K-State Priority Points system.

Fans wishing to place their order can stop by the Athletic Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum, call 800.221.CATS or visit the website at www.k-statesports.com.

All-session tickets are also available through the Orleans Arena with two-day packages priced at $94, $115, $136 and $168. These tickets are available immediately through the arena’s ticket office by calling 702.284.7777 or on the web at www.orleansarena.com.

Led by former Texas A&M coach Billy Gillispie, Kentucky posted an 18-13 overall record and 12-4 mark in SEC in 2007-08 en route to advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 17th consecutive year. K-State is winless in seven meetings with Kentucky, which includes the 1951 NCAA Championship game in Minneapolis, Minn., and the 1976 NIT in New York City.

K-State leads the all-times series with both Iowa (4-3) and West Virginia (1-0). The Hawkeyes tallied a 13-19 overall record in their first season under former Butler Todd Lickliter in 2007-08. The Mountaineers collected a 26-11 overall record and advanced to the Sweet 16 last season under first-year head coach and former Wildcat mentor Bob Huggins.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be staged on campus sites. Kansas State will host Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, Nov. 16 and Oakland on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

The balance of Kansas State’s schedule will be released at a later date.
