Tomatoes are okay, but watch out for jalapeños. The Food and Drug Administration found a jalapeño pepper contaminated with salmonella Monday at a food supplier in Texas. That supplier is recalling its fresh peppers.
You should not eat fresh jalapeños and products made with the hot peppers, the FDA warns.

The Food and Drug Administration's food safety chief says the discovery of the same strand of salmonella in the nationwide outbreak on the pepper is a "very important break."
Although the pepper was grown on a farm in Mexico, officials still are not certain where the bacteria came from.
More than 1,200 people in 42 states have been sickened by salmonella since April.
Investigators initially suspected tomatoes, but lifted a warning against eating them last week.
