Topekans will be lending a hand to the aftermath of Hurricane Dolly.
Volunteers with the Topeka Chapter of the American Red Cross left for San Antonio, Texas Wednesday.
They'll be serving hot food to people trying to repair the damage left by the hurricane.
One volunteer finds the work very satisfying, even in retirement.
"It's very satisfying work, other than the selfish things like when you get back from a tornado and you find that your house still has all its windows in it, and you get back to your house from a flood and find that you don't have twelve inches of mud in your basement, uh, it's satisfying to be able to help other people," volunteer Gary Duncan said.
The Topeka chapter will join other Red Cross chapters from across the U.S. while in San Antonio.
