Two Capitol City swimmers are trying to race their way to a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
Mariah Hutchinson, a Topeka High Grad and current Nebraska Cornhusker , fell short Sunday in qualifying for the 100 meter butterfly, but will get a second chance to punch her ticket to Beijing on Wednesday when she will try in the 200 meter butterfly.
And the second swimmer is also a former T-High Trojan. Shara Stafford is competing in four events at the Olympic trials in Omaha throughout the week.
Her best chance to make the team is in the 100 meter backstroke. Stafford just graduated from Topeka High and will start swimming for the Florida Gators in the fall.
