If you think you're safe from identity theft at the ATM, think again.
Thieves can steal your information through two techniques called card withholding and card skimming.
But you can protect yourself from ATM fraud with some simple practices.
Don't use an ATM with any residue in the card slot.
A thief could be behind you watching you put in your PIN. When your card gets stuck and you leave, the thief will have your card and your PIN.
Memorize your PIN and make sure it's a unique number.
Get into the habit of covering your hand each time you enter your PIN even if no one is around.
Also, cut or shred old cards when you get new ones.
