Two local ladies' soccer teams work for state titles

State quarterfinals were going on across the Sunflower State, but only one Capitol City school was playing at home this evening and Seaman had their eyes set on advancing to the state title game for the second consecutive year.
Up north we go where the Vikings were hosting upstart Saint James Academy.
In the second half, Saint James is already up 3-0 and the Thunder are still attacking. Rachel Weimer tries to find the back of the net but Kelsie Maxwell gets the nice save. The Vikes are still down by three. After a Seaman roughing penalty in the goalie box, Saint James would have the penalty kick, but it would go over the goal. And the Vikes' run for a title comes to a close as they lose 3-0.
And Washburn Rural was also in action tonight down in Maize. After four overtimes, the game was still tied at zero and had to be decided on penalty kicks. Maize would take it 5-3. Washburn Rural ends the year at 14-3-2.
