School is out for summer but some Northeast Kansas athletes are still on a quest for a state title.
The high school state softball and baseball tournaments kick off on Friday and championship games will be Saturday.
First up, Seaman High School is returning to the state baseball playoffs looking to win their first state title since 2006.
Last year's team was the runner up in the state championship game and the seniors on this team want the chance to win two titles in three years.
"It never gets any easier, it doesn't get old," Seaman head coach Steve Bushnell said. "This is a new team, it's a new season and we've got a lot of familiar faces, some guys who have state tournament experience. We just feel like we are ready to get down there and let it all go."
The Vikes will take on Newton on Friday down in Wichita. The first pitch is set for 11 a.m.
From 5A down to 4A....Hayden goes into their state baseball tournament as the three seed and are looking to make a run at a state title.
The last time the Wildcats took a gold home in baseball was back in 2001 and it's not like they haven't been trying to win one more.
This is their third straight appearance in the state tournament.
Despite the recent downfalls in the tourney, the Cats know that this year is a new year.
"Our 18 guys have a lot of confidence right now. This is their third consecutive year these guys have been to the state tournament," Hayden head coach Aaron Becker said. "They should be prepared, nothing is new to them. We'll be hooked up and ready to go on Friday."
The Wildcats will take on Parsons over in Salina at 6:30 on Friday.
